As a mother of two children, both born at home, I am very familiar
with the ups and downs of pregnancy and childbirth.
For me, being a doula is not so much a career choice as it is a
calling. After the birth of my second child it dawned on me
that the most powerful and beautiful moments of my life were the
births of my children. I realized that I wanted to help other
women to have the same feelings towards their birth experiences.
In my previous incarnations, I have been a student at York
University in Toronto studying Women's Studies and Racial & Ethnic Relations, I
have traveled the world and lived in both England and Australia
followed by a career in the charitable sector. Deciding to become a
doula was definitely my "aha" moment.
I believe that childbirth is not a medical condition but rather a
life experience. I understand that every woman has their own
expectations regarding birth and my goal is to simply help women
make informed decisions about what they want and to support those
goals.
