doula's kids

As a mother of two children, both born at home, I am very familiar with the ups and downs of pregnancy and childbirth.

For me, being a doula is not so much a career choice as it is a calling.  After the birth of my second child it dawned on me that the most powerful and beautiful moments of my life were the births of my children.  I realized that I wanted to help other women to have the same feelings towards their birth experiences.

In my previous incarnations, I have been a student at York University in Toronto studying Women's Studies and Racial & Ethnic Relations, I have traveled the world and lived in both England and Australia followed by a career in the charitable sector. Deciding to become a doula was definitely my "aha" moment.

I believe that childbirth is not a medical condition but rather a life experience.  I understand that every woman has their own expectations regarding birth and my goal is to simply help women make informed decisions about what they want and to support those goals.the doula while pregnant
